How do you use it?

I don’t have any plastic wrap in my home…


Most people think of plastic wrap as a kitchen product rather than an emergency tool. Sometimes, we need to think outside the box in emergency situations, because it’s an emergency!! You probably never imagined that plastic wrap can help us in a crisis. There’s no harm in knowing some of the possibilities.


As a follow-up to my previous post #87, let’s pick up where I left off. Here are some more emergency uses for plastic wrap.


These uses for plastic wrap aren’t limited to emergencies. We can do these anytime.



Cold-weather gear

 Plastic wrap is a good insulator. Wrap plastic wrap between clothes or with newspapers, to help you stay warm.


★ Leg and arm warmer

Use newspaper to wrap your legs or arms. And then wrap with plastic wrap.



★Belly warmer

Use a towel or newspaper and cover around your belly. And then wrap with plastic wrap.



★ Foot warmer

Wrap your toes and then wear shoes.


Water proofing

When you expect your stuff might get wet, in a heavy rain for example, use plastic wrap to protect your gear against water.

In an emergency, you need need to respond quickly to developing situations. Use plastic wrap for…


★ Cellphone

Wrap your cellphone in plastic wrap, and you can use your cellphone in the rain. You can also use plastic wrap or cellophane as a makeshift screen protector. You can safely use your phone with dirty hands if it’s protected by plastic wrap. The touchscreen will still work!



If you want to let your kids play with your cellphone, use plastic wrap to keep it clean and protect the screen.


★ Temporary rain boots (be careful, this might get slippery)



If your houseguests don’t want to take off their shoes, wrap his/ her shoes to keep your home clean!!


Dish sponge

You can ball up used plastic wrap and use it as a dish sponge with or without dish soap.



There are many more ways to use plastic wrap in an emergency.


Plastic wrap uses include
Saving water / Cold-weather gear/ Water proofing / First aid / Holding in odors / Rope / Message board / Covering a broken window / Putting items together / Dish sponge / etc.
